Tarleton State University, Texas Folklore Society, Cross Timbers Fine Arts Council, and the Langdon Review invite you to a free screening of the award-winning film The Birth & History of Western Swing on Tuesday, April 4 at the Clyde Wells Fine Arts Auditorium at Tarleton State University. A mixer will begin at 6, with the film starting at 7. Immediately after the film, Moumin Quazi, a Professor of English and Folklore Society member, will conduct a Q&A with the filmmaker Mike Markwardt.
Stephenville is the birthplace of Milton Brown, who developed the Western swing genre with Bob Willis in the early 1930s.
The event is open to the public at no cost. Students are encouraged to attend. You can find directions by searching “Clyde H. Wells Fine Arts Center” here.
