Calling all High School and Undergrad College Students!
The Texas Folklore Society wants YOU to give a presentation about folklore at its annual meeting on April 2–4, 2027, at Tarleton State University in Stephenville.
Some possible topics:
- Local legends, ghost stories, or cryptids
- Family food traditions
- Local festivals or events
- Memes or other internet folklore
- Texas folklore as seen in movies or books
Past student presentation topics have included campus paranormal groups, traditional cleansing/limpias, and lost-treasure legends.
The first step is to submit a short paragraph (250–500 words) describing your folklore paper by Dec. 4, 2026, via email to TexasFolkloreSociety@gmail.com.
If your proposal is accepted, the next step will be to complete a paper (5–10 pages) and present it as part of the “New Voices in Folklore” panel, made up of students like you!
Scholarships are available with no additional application; participants receive discounted conference fees, most meals, and free entertainment.
