  Mr. John Lee Brooks (. Southern Methodist University, Dallas) "Paul Bunyan in the Oil Fields" Mr. Samuel E. Asbury (College Station, Texas) "Music of the 'Holy-Rollers'" Old-time frontier songs, dance calls, and fiddling by J. E. Newcomer and Jim Edwards, of Bandera County, with Dean T. U. Taylor of the University of Texas leading the dancers, genuine old-time square dances were demonstrated.

• Business Meeting:

  Election of officers, and the following resolution presented by J. Frank Dobie, Secretary of the Society, was adopted:
  
  WHEREAS, The old-time Texas longhorn was, with cotton, the basis of the commercial prosperity of the State;
  WHEREAS, In song, romance, and sentiment the old Texas Longhorn is forever linked with the human and
  soil background of the State; and
  WHEREAS, the Texas Longhorn is now bellowing his last bellow and is nearer extinction than the American buffalo ever was,
  THEREFORE, we of the Texas Folk-Lore Society recommend that the Legislature of the State of Texas appropriate
  sufficient funds and provide adequate means for preserving in its original purity the longhorn breed--
  the most history-making breed of cattle the world has ever known.

  
  
  

  The Texas State Historical Association met on Friday afternoon, April 23, in conjunction with the
  meeting of the Texas Folk-Lore Society on April 23 and 24.
