East Texas Historical Association 2010

Janet Simonds, TFS Treasurer and Office Secretary, chaired a joint session with the East Texas Historical Association at their fall meeting in Nacogdoches on September 16, 2010. The session was entitled "Folklore: A Catalog of our Culture." The session was very well received. There were about 25 people in the audience.

TFS members Jack Duncan (McKinney), Sue Friday (Charlotte, NC), and Peggy Redshaw (Sherman),  presented papers. Jack's paper was entitled "Larger than Life, Even in Death;" Sue's paper was "The Alford Farm: Rescuing a Dogtrot and Remembering a Frontier Homestead;" and Peggy gave a paper on "The 1918 Flu Strikes Sherman, Texas."
