Texas Cowboy Symposium -- 2011

The Texas Folklore Society booth attracted a lot of attention at the 2011 National Cowboy Symposium and Celebration in Lubbock on September 8-11. A hundred or more people walked by the booth and looked at the books and signs, many stopping to talk and ask questions about the Folklore Society. Some had stories to tell. We handed out a lot of brochures and got a lot of good exposure.

Texas Folklore Society members Sara and Wallace McKeeBob Carr, John Wolf, Kenneth Davis, and Pat and Emerson Tucker, plus members of the Lubbock Westerners staffed the Texas Folklore Society information booth at the Symposium. Many thanks our members and to the Westerners for their help. Texas Folklore Society office secretary and treasurer Janet Simonds, also attended the event and assisted at the booth.

Several Texas Folklore Society members were participants in the Symposium events. Kenneth Davis and Len Ainsworth emceed Western Heritage History events, and Sylvia Mahoney emceed the Teddy Roosevelt presentation and was one of the group with the Great Western Cattle Trail Association Booth. Mary Margaret Campbell read a paper on George West, Rick Holstead read his poems, and Annalon Gilbreath told her stories.
