Kay Arnold
coordinated the Texas Folklore Society's participation in the
Texas Book Festival
(November 1-2) on the Capitol grounds in Austin again
this year and reported lots of good contacts with book readers and
two new memberships on-the-spot. Kay and her group of
volunteers - Jean and Lew Schnitz, Charles and
Vee Williams, Elizabeth Duncan, Vicky Rose,
Lori Najvar, and a brand new member Lauren Goodley -
handed out about 200 brochures and talked to visitors about the
Texas Folklore Society. They displayed our books and brochures and
talked up the 100th anniversary meeting (April 9-11, 2009) in
Nacogdoches. Kay said they had so many visitors "who seemed to be
genuine in their interest" and she hopes some of them will become
members.
Jean
said, "I feel like it was a successful venture and think it is
nothing but good for TFS to have a presence at this event."
Many thanks to Kay and the
others for all their hard work.
